![]() Frequently Asked Questions? Below you will find a few answers to our most commonly asked questions.
Q. How deep are your beds?
A. The standard bed depth is 360mm (14").
Q. Can you build me a longer length bed?
A. Our Couriers cannot carry lengths over 2.4 metres, therefore although we can make longer length beds, they have to be split into smaller lengths that can be joined and they will be subject to carriage charges on each parcel. Please contact us direct for prices.
Q. How do I know what size screwdriver I will need to put it together?
A. We include a free screwdriver bit, that fits in most electric screwdrivers, just to make putting your beds together as easy as possible!
Q. I bought a bed from you and now I want to add some hoops for netting. Is it easy to do this?
A. We can supply hoops to fit the standard size beds on the site. The hoops simply need holes drilled at equal spacings on each side of the top of the bed to push into. We even supply the correct size drill bit with the hoops to make it simple.
Q. Do I need to line my raised garden beds before I fill them? A. A liner is not required if sited on existing soil or lawn, but is recommended if used on a patio, gravel or decking. This will prevent the soil from being washed out when watered. Our liners are a non woven, waterpermeable geotextile. This ensures water is allowed to drain whilst retaining soil and preventing roots from growing up through the ground. Q. How strong are your raised garden beds? A. Extra thick 40mm timber is used to build our beds, this ensures more than enougth strength to retain soil contained by beds without bowing in the middle. Q. What form of treatment is used to preserve the timber that you build your raised garden beds with and can it leach out? A. We build our beds out of Tanalised E pressure treated timber. This treatment's preservative components bond within the timber structure such that they become leach resistant. Therefore are suitable for use as earth retaining structures such as vegetable beds.
